OBFUSCATION: EXPLORING THE LAYERING OF MEANING June 2 - July 2, 2016

OBFUSCATION is a collaboration between Frederick Holmes And Company and the (non-profit) Kirkland Arts Center. The three artists in this exhibition – Anna Macrae, Susan Derrick, and Flora Ramirez Bustamante – dialogue with written meaning-making through text, whether legible or illegible, and conscious layering, often with the addition of mixed media textural elements like fabric, wood, or paper. The resulting works are deep, rich tapestries of concealed and synthesized meaning, uncannily familiar yet elusively foreign.

Complimenting the exhibit of paintings will be Gary Word’s unique fused-glass musical instruments sculptures, to be performed June 17, 2016, “Le Son du Verre II”.
