VISUAL LEGACY: A GROUP EXHIBITION

Continuing the gallery’s February celebration of BLACK HISTORY MONTH into March, which kicked off with the enthusiastically received show, KEN MOORE: CONVERSATIONS IN BLACK SURREALITY, this unique group exhibition will feature five selected painters from the rich and talented collective of visual artists of African descent located in the Pacific Northwest and associated with the non-profit ONYX FINE ARTS COLLECTIVE.

ONYX was established fourteen years ago “…to give greater visibility and opportunities to artists of African descent. For 13 years Onyx has staged annual juried fine art exhibits which showcased works of art by artists of African descent living in the Pacific Northwest communities.”

Out of a field of over 20 submissions, five artists were selected by gallery owner Frederick Holmes for this special exhibition. Integrated into the ONYX artists contributions will be selected paintings by LA-based painter, Ken Moore; whose first-ever solo gallery show at the age of nearly 70, KEN MOORE: CONVERSATIONS IN BLACK SURREALITY has been an incredible success with 1/3 of the show sold-out!

The gallery is proud to continue its legacy of collaborative exhibitions and events supporting regional non-profit arts organizations, offering them greater public participation and acclaim on Seattle’s Occidental Mall – the “Heart of Pioneer Square”. Past collaborations have included respected organizations such as the Center on Contemporary Art (CoCA), Kirkland Arts Center, Copper Canyon Press, Upstream Music Fest, and others.
